Conference: Fake News mechanisms at ESA Business School

TomKeen delivered a strong presentation at ESA Business School on the hot topic of “Fake News”. The objective of the lecture was to explain the technical, economical and political mechanisms behind this phenomenon, that endangers the democratic structures of our society.

Fake News are all over the Web and Social Media platforms these days and they spread much faster than real informations. Mainly pushed by economical and political interests, the phenomenon grows and raises very important questions for our societies: who creates the “truth”? Why do Fake News easily convince large groups of people to spread rumors, challenge established knowledge and scientifically proven facts?

Stéphane Bazan, our lecturer, was for the occasion invited by ESA Business School and the SGBL Bank to present at the “Petits Déjeuners du Management”. Around 100 guests attended the presentation, that was delivered in French.

The lecture was followed by a long debate with the audience. The importance of education, digital literacy and the responsibilities of media outlets and social media platforms were at the heart of the discussions.
